Our learning site!
Kia ora everyone,
We now have a learning site to support the learning in class. This site has been created as a resource to support Room five students with their learning tasks. It will also help parents and caregivers to gain a better understanding of what is happening at school so you can help to reinforce the learning at home.
Here is the link:

Our inquiry topic this term is 'Culture'
What we have done so far.....we viewed a range of different Pacific and Maori art to incorporate into our pacific flower petals. This is how we are getting on so far. We used pencil to draw our patterns with a focus on detail. We then went over the patterns with black vivid. We photocopied our pattern 4 times and started dying the flower petals to inject some colour. We are in the final stages of arranging the flower and decorating it so it is 3 dimensional and stands out from the wall. Keep an eye out for our updates.

Can we solve it?
Hi Room 5.
I have your drawing pins and I am holding them to Ransom.
You can have them back if you can estimate how many there are in the bag?
Oh and you have to tell me how you worked out your solution.
Here are two pictures to help your thinking.
Sorry Moira but I'm light fingered.

Champion Leader certificate!
The big idea we are incorporating into our learning is 'champions'. What does it mean to be a champion leader. This is a special certificate that will be awarded every fortnight to 1 special child in each class. A child who has not necessarily shown exemplary skills academically but has demonstrated a positive attitude or possesses a special set of qualities and values. We will be posting the lucky recipient online next Friday. Thank you to the wonderful people at KPMG for helping to design this certificate!!!
